It’s absolutely true that ever piece is unique. This gorgeous commissioned Weedy Sea Dragon in unique, in that, never before has Christian inserted a life like eye. Christian is an avid free diver and one of his favored sea creatures is the Weedy Sea Dragon. As we comb the surface of the water, he has an eye of spotting them up to 5 meters deep in the ocean waters.

As Christian has progressed with his sculpturing skills he finds that he learns more and more about each creature. This piece is carved using an actual specimen of a sea dragon found on the back beach of the Rye ocean beach.

Christian remarked this time round, how he noticed that this sea-dragon used to carve from as an example, had more fins than previously noted of sea-dragons using images as references. We are yet to understand the difference as to why some sea dragons have more fins than others, but we will be looking to find out. In the mean time, please enjoy this gorgeous cuttle bone carving commission for by a loving client for her and her partner, who both share the love of Weedy Sea dragons like us.
